Perhaps you were right, but I found more interesting to crop the top than the bottom. What do you think?

I usually spend some time every day at my San Francisco Bay Area immigration law office making inquires on pending cases. It is a frustrating process because I rarely receive answers and when I do, they usually are not helpful.
United States Citizenship and Immigration Services ("USCIS") has recently released guidance on how to make inquiries at their Service Centers (http://www.californiaimmigrationlawyerblog.com/USCIS%20update.pdf). They provide a three step process. The first step is to call their National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283. If the issue is not resolved in 30 days, you proceed on to the next step which is to email the USCIS Service Center where your case is pending. The email addresses are:
California Service Center csc-ncsc-followup@dhs.gov Vermont Service Center vsc.ncscfollowup@dhs.gov Nebraska Service Center ncscfollowup.nsc@dhs.gov Texas Service Center tsc.ncscfollowup@dhs.gov (tsc.ncsfollowup@dhs.gov)
If there is no response to the email, you proceed to the last step which is to notify the USCIS Headquarters office of Service Center Operations by email at SCOPSSCATA@dhs.gov. The notice indicates that you will receive a response from this email within ten days.
It remains to be seen whether this system actually works. I will try it out in a few cases and will report back what happens.

A question from one of my friend.
************************************************** *******
Here are my H1 details.
Initially I came to USA on H1B in May 2002 and stayed till June end 2004. In early 2004 I had applied for H1B extension and got it extended till Sep 2005. As I went back to India in July 2004 I didn't get a chance to extend my H1B for the second time. Effectively I
was in USA for just over 2 years on H1B and overall validity of my H1B was over 3 years.
Last year (2007) July I came to USA on L1A and I have the visa valid till March 2010.
************************************************** *******
Can someone suggest whether he can apply for H1 Transfer and Extension or does he need to apply for new H1B in the 2008 quota?
Thanks in advance.

I am in a very bad condition n would appreciate anyone who can advice me on same. I had been out of status for about 1 yr n 2 months following my denial of I 140 n expiration of H1b, n currently residing in US. Now i have a new approval for H1b from USCIS, a month back. I was instructed by my employer to go back to my native country n get approval from from the consulate n re enter US. My lawyer instructed that i will be barred at the consulate or at the airport due to the history of over stay in US upon re-entering . Is there any one who have heard experinces of this kind ever? plz share your knowledge... thanks

May I ask how you know this? Do you have some visibility to the internal processes, or have a credible source?
I'm not questioning your comment - just checking if it's more than hearsay.
Once every check is completed it goes into a queue and then every month a list goes to an officer based on the priority date and visa availability
The best thing is to call them as soon as the processing dates go past your application date. Call them to find out about ur case. At that time they are open about ur case. They will let you know exactly if your name check is cleared.
They also mentioned that once everything is in place the files goes to the office and then it might take up to 90 days for the officer to make a decision.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services will celebrate the grand opening of its new field office and application support center in Bedford on Thursday, Sept. 2, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, naturalization ceremony and tours of the facility. USCIS Associate Regional Director Shelley Goodwin will preside during the naturalization ceremony and will administer the Oath of Allegiance to 25 citizenship candidates. She will be joined by USCIS Boston District Director Denis Riordan and USCIS Manchester Field Office Director Simon Abi Nader.
Gov. John Lynch will join USCIS and delivering remarks for the special naturalization ceremony. Joining USCIS for the ribbon-cutting ceremony will be Bedford Town Manager Russell Marcoux, Mayor of Manchester Ted Gatsas and Glenn C. Rotondo, acting regional administrator of General Services Administration, New England region.
The new office, at 9 Ridgewood Road, will provide a range of immigration services, including naturalization interviews, lawful permanent resident processing, fingerprinting and photographic services and is well-suited to serve the areas immigrant community. The new facility replaces the former Manchester location on Canal Street. The new office is based on a national model for new USCIS office locations throughout the country.
The new building is being dedicated to Sgt. Major Abraham Cohn, Civil War Medal of Honor recipient. Cohn was born in 1832 in Guttentag, an East Prussian town. He immigrated to the U.S. in the mid-19th century and fought for the Union during the Civil War serving with the 6th New Hampshire Infantry Volunteers. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for conspicuous gallantry in the Battle of the Wilderness (May 6, 1864) and for bravery & coolness at the Battle of the Crater (July 30, 1864).
The 25 citizenship candidates originate from 13 countries: Bosnia-Herzegovina, Brazil, China, France, Iran, Kosovo, Malaysia, Pakistan, Poland, Russia, Sudan, Thailand and United Kingdom. The ribbon cutting will take place at 11 a.m. with the naturalization ceremony to follow at 1 p.m.

I think with the Columbus Day holiday recently, they might take an additional day to release.

Currently on EAD with my spouse as the primary applicant. I plan to travel outside US and return may be after a yr.
Assuming that i have satisfied the 180 days for this yr
1) what will happen if I dont spend the required time in the US next yr ?
2) Can i apply for AP from outside US next yr
3) Will i loose my EAD?
4) What is the process to re-apply if i will loose it?
Thank you all in advance.
Cheers !
